Odyssey Press Announced as Award Winner in New England regional Awards of Excellence Competition

Gonic, NH – November 10, 2008 – The Printing Industries of New England (PINE) has announced that Odyssey Press of Gonic, NH is an award winner in the Association’s New England regional Awards of Excellence Competition. The announcement was made November 6 during PINE’s 2008 Industry Awards Gala, held at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel in Framingham, MA, with hundreds of industry professionals in attendance. For PINE’s Awards of Excellence Competition, it attracted 325 entries from 47 printing and imaging companies in New England.

Odyssey Press won one Award of Recognition, and two Awards of Merit. A panel of three out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production, were brought in to examine the work. Tim Burton, Burton & Mayer, Menomonee Falls, WI; Paul Schmitz, Schmitz Press, Sparks, MD; and Dave Watterson, PIA/GATF, Sewickley, PA. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
